Ambient Appoints Dr. Pratim Biswas as Environmental Scientist and Advisor

We are honored to welcome today Professor Pratim Biswas as Ambient’s Environmental Scientist and Advisor. Professor Biswas currently serves as the Dean of the University of Miami College of Engineering. He is a Professor of Chemical, Environmental and Materials Engineering with a joint appointment at the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Miami.

I am excited to partner with Ambient and help in the large-scale and strategic deployment of much-needed air quality sensors. This will not only provide us a better understanding of our atmospheric condition but also help in the protection of human health and well-being.

Pratim Biswas is a pioneer in aerosol science and engineering, with a distinguished career and educational background that spans several prestigious institutions, including the California Institute of Technology, the University of Cincinnati, Washington University, the University of California, and the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay. With over 35+ years of experience, his work and research has significantly advanced our understanding of environmental nanotechnology, air pollution control, nanoparticle technology and solar energy. He directs the famed Aerosol and Air Quality Research Laboratory (AAQRL) and his 65 or so PhD graduates are making significant contributions to the field. He holds an esteemed position as a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) the world’s largest scientific society, is also a Fellow of the American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR), Association for Environmental Engineering Science Professors (AEESP) and the International Aerosol Research Assembly (IARA). He was Past President of AAAR and IARA. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2019,

Professor Biswas’s appointment marks a pivotal moment for Ambient as we expand our network of environmental sensors and data analytics capabilities. His pioneering contributions and leadership in the field will be invaluable as we continue to ensure scientific-grade device quality to harness scientific value and impactful solutions in environmental monitoring.
