What is Ambient Network?

Ambient is at the leading edge of global environmental monitoring, harnessing the power of its vast sensor network to deliver real-time, actionable environmental data. There are already tens of thousands of certified scientific sensors deployed by our community members across 20 countries focusing specifically on air quality — and you can view our map here.

Ambient Network uses a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) model on the Solana blockchain to capture hyperlocal air quality and ambient data. Our goal is to expand the datasets that we collect to even more environmental and ambient metrics while making it even more accessible for anyone to get involved.

The first step in our journey is AmbiGo!: an easy-to-use mobile app that rewards you for participating in the network.

AmbiGo! will evolve from capturing qualitative ambient data to more quantitative insights, utilizing your phone’s microphone and camera to measure noise levels, light ambiance, and more In the near future, we’ll be launching more advanced sensors to track additional metrics along with enterprise-level APIs, ensuring there’s something for everyone to participate in this collective network.

How Can I Earn Rewards with AmbiGo!?

AmbiGo! rewards you for every action, rating, and question answered, making it easy to find earning opportunities that fit your circumstances. Every check-in and review helps Ambient identify the best places for our sensors, enhancing monitoring opportunities across your cities.

Anyone with a phone can start earning points for their contributions. These points will later be converted into cryptocurrency rewards after the token launch on Solana, known as an airdrop*. The more points you collect, the bigger the airdrop you’ll receive. Plus, we’ve added a few surprises along the way with daily magic prizes at locations near you.

When Will AmbiGo! Be Available?

The AmbiGo! mobile web app will be available in July. It will first be launched in a closed beta where our partners, investors, advisors and key members of the DePIN community will provide feedback on the app.

A public launch will follow shortly after. In the lead-up to our launch, make sure to sign up for early access and download a Solana-compatible wallet so that you’ll be able to collect your rewards at the end of each season.

So…What is DePIN?

DePIN stands for Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks. This model allows developers and initial contributors to issue tokens to users, incentivizing communities to grow the infrastructure further. In Ambient’s case, everyday people are encouraged to participate in our sensor network, helping spread the coverage map for essential environmental and ambient data globally.

This novel model rewards every network participant equitably, unlike traditional models that only serve companies and their commercial goals. Enabled by Web3 incentives, this framework allows everyone to participate meaningfully in the causes they care about and get rewarded for their contributions. In the future, community governance will also play a crucial role in how the network evolves.
