Roadmap & Legacy Network Migration Update

GM Ambient Fam,

We’ve been working tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver against the migration plan and to complete milestones in our original roadmap. We’re excited to finally be production ready and we look forward to guiding you through this process, to ensure a smooth launch on Solana. This post covers updates relating to the legacy network migration taking place this October.

Migrating Sensors To The New Tech Stack

Additional information will be made available in the following days that will detail the process of the migration, guiding you through the steps required to land on the new Ambient tech stack, with a glimpse of what to expect in the following sections.

The New Explorer and Dashboard

Ambient New Explorer

We’re thrilled to unveil our new Explorer and Dashboard. These updates will provide a more streamlined experience with enhanced functionality:

  • Explorer: here you’ll be able to monitor network activity across data streams, sensor categories, AmbiGo! aggregate usage, daily rewards, top cities by coverage and insights into the network’s growth. Sensor statistics will be reset to reflect the transfer sensors as part of the migration to the new stack
  • My Account: the main page to manage your sensors
  • My Wallet: monitor your daily rewards and stay on top of earnings
  • My Orders: track and manage your available licenses and orders

We heard your feedback and to improve user experience the platform will feature a single account login that works across the core Ambient ecosystem, simplifying access to your data and devices. AmbiGo! will remain a separate platform for now with separate login.

These building blocks will launch in October, with even more features planned after the migration to ensure continued enhancements to the user experience.

Rewards Engine Tuned to Updated Tokenomics

Ambient New My Wallet Section

In October, we will also be updating our rewards engine to reflect Ambient’s tokenomics. This will include four categories of devices: Outdoor, Indoor, Wearable, and Commodity. For more details, we invite you to explore our tokenomics page.

Once participants have completed the migration process, sensor rewards will accumulate in your account but will not be able to be withdrawn until we launch our token on Solana. After the Token Generation Event (TGE), you will have access to previously earned Ambient tokens and will begin receiving daily device rewards in Ambient tokens.

License Swap

Once the PlanetWatch licenses refund window has closed on October 4th, all licenses will automatically be updated in accordance with our initial announcement. Moving forward, licenses will only be used for onboarding onto the network with a one-time cost per sensor. All existing licenses, as well as those that have not yet expired will be swapped to this perpetual model and will not require yearly renewals. This applies to:

  • Lifetime early-bird licenses;
  • Licenses associated with a sensor;
  • Licenses that were never connected, as long as they were not refunded by PlanetWatch;
  • Licenses that were never connected that were acquired via vouchers;
  • Licenses that were previously connected but that are no longer associated with a sensor with remaining runtime, and;
  • License renewals never used on a sensor.

Exciting news! Onboarding licenses for the first 12 months of the launch of the Ambient network will be offered at $20 USD, expected to double after this initial promotional period.

Token Eligibility Tool

Giving a peek into the coming token tool, this platform will allow you to link your Algorand and Solana wallets in order to receive your Ambient token airdrop following the token release schedule. More details will be provided in October.

Switching to a Hexagonal Map

As part of the new tech stack we’re transitioning our air quality map from a pixel grid to a hexagonal layout to be in line with other DePIN projects. This change will improve spatial coverage, providing a seamless view of our tiers. Each hexagon will display air quality levels and information about the deployed sensors within that area, making it easier to understand local conditions.

Following Announcements

As we approach the end of October we will release a roadmap update for November and December detailing our plans for the rest of the year, including TGE, airdrops and new sensor launches!
